A tuned 433.92 MHz whip aerial with 2.5 metres of 50Ω coaxial cable and a corner mounting bracket — it lifts your receiver's aerial out of the control box and up into clear line of sight, where the remote can actually reach it.
Most gate receivers ship with a short wire aerial sitting inside the control box. Bolt that box to a steel post, tuck it behind a masonry pier or set it low against a rendered wall, and the signal has to fight through all of it. The result is the familiar one — you stop, wind the window down, press again, then reverse a metre and press a third time. This aerial moves the receiving point out of the box so you can mount it high and clear, in sight of the car.
This is a tuned single-strand whip — a 165 mm element cut for 433.920 MHz, the frequency the overwhelming majority of gate remotes in Australia transmit on. That's the difference between a generic antenna and a matched one: the element length and the 50Ω impedance are correct for the wavelength your handsets are actually sending, so the receiver hears them properly rather than approximately.
It arrives complete — 2.5 metres of 50Ω coaxial cable already fitted, and a 150 × 30 mm corner bracket to mount it with. No separate coax order, no hunting for a bracket that fits. Two and a half metres is enough to get from a control box at the base of the pier up to the top of a post, over a low wall, or onto the face of a carport — wherever the clear sightline happens to be.
The coax terminates into the aerial terminals on your receiver or control panel — centre core to the signal terminal, braid to the shield or earth terminal. It's the specified aerial for the Prastel receiver range, and because it lands on plain screw terminals it will serve any 433.92 MHz receiver with an aerial connection. Ten minutes with a screwdriver and a couple of masonry plugs.
Check your remotes are 433.92 MHz — it's printed on most handsets or listed in the motor manual. Mount the aerial as high as practical, vertically, and clear of metal structures, with the whip in line of sight toward where you press the remote. Don't cut or extend the supplied coax; the 2.5 m length is part of what makes it work. An aerial improves how well the receiver hears, rather than amplifying the signal — so if you're fighting genuine interference rather than obstruction, talk to us first.
There is nothing to tune and nothing to program. The whip is already cut for 433.92 MHz and the coax is already fitted, so the whole job is mounting the bracket and landing two connections. Fix the bracket as high and as clear of steel as you can reach, keep the whip vertical, run the coax back to your control box, then put the centre core on the aerial terminal and the braid on the shield or earth terminal beside it. A drill, two masonry plugs and a screwdriver is the entire tool list. Walk out to where you normally press the remote and test it before you tidy the cable away — if it still hesitates, move the aerial higher or further from metal and test again. That is the whole method, and it is why this is the first thing to try before anyone starts replacing receivers.
