A back-lit wireless keypad that mounts on the pier or a post and opens your gate from a four-digit code — four separate codes on four channels, battery powered, with no cable to run and nothing to hand over or lose.
Every gate ends up with the same problem. There are two remotes and three drivers. The kids get dropped home before you are. The cleaner needs to get in on a Thursday, the pool bloke on a Tuesday, and the landscaper for six weeks straight — and you are not handing out a $90 handset to any of them. A keypad solves it in the simplest way possible: they don't need a device, they need four digits. And when the job finishes, you change the code.
This isn't one code for one gate. There are four independent numeric codes, each triggering a different channel — so one code can open the main driveway gate, a second the pedestrian gate, a third the garage door, and a fourth switch the driveway lights. Or you use the channels for people instead of places: a family code, a trades code, and a code you give out for a single afternoon and change that night. Every code is yours to set and reset.
A wired keypad means conduit — which means cutting the driveway, coring the pier, or running cable back to the control box through finished landscaping. This one transmits by radio to your control panel from up to 150 metres in clear line of sight, and runs off a single 9 V alkaline battery. It goes exactly where it makes sense to reach from the car window: on the pier, on the wall, or on a low post at the end of the drive. Four screws and it's done. If you'd rather it were hard-wired, it also accepts 12–24 V DC from the panel.
Cheap keypads and old remotes send a fixed code that can be captured off the air and replayed. This one transmits rolling code by default and can be set to AES-128 bit encryption, so the signal changes every time and a recorded press is worth nothing. It's rated IP55 for driveway weather and runs from −20 °C to +50 °C, the keys are back-lit for arriving after dark, and an integrated indicator light confirms the press registered rather than leaving you guessing.
This is a Ditec radio transmitter — it pairs with a Ditec or Entrematic control panel or receiver running one of the Ditec protocols, so check what's in your control box before ordering. Confirm your system is 433.92 MHz. Mount it within radio range of the control box with as clear a line of sight as you can manage, and keep it off large steel surfaces. IP55 means it handles rain and hose-down, but it will last longer sheltered under a pier cap or eave than fully exposed. Set and test your codes before you fix it to the wall.
This is the easiest accessory on the gate to install, because there is no cable to run and nothing to connect. Do it in this order and it goes smoothly every time. Put the battery in, set your codes on the keypad, then put your control panel or receiver into its learn mode and press the keypad once to pair the channel — the supplied instructions give you the exact key sequence for each. Stand where the keypad is going and test it before you drill, so you know the range is comfortable from that spot. Then hold the backplate up, mark four holes, and fix it with masonry plugs. A drill and a screwdriver is all you need, and it is a fifteen-minute job with no electrician, no conduit and no trades to book. If you ever want to change a code later, you do it at the keypad without touching the panel again.
