— Gate Remote Control · Ditec Slim2E-DC —

One For Each Car.
One For The House.

The genuine Ditec two-button handset — rolling code, a hundred metres of range, small enough to live on a keyring, and built to work with every Ditec remote released in Australia in the last twenty years. The current model, from the Italian house that has made entrance automation since 1974.

— At a glance —
2
Buttons, two channels

One for the gate, one spare for a second gate, the garage door or pedestrian opening

100
Metres of range

Nominal free-field range, so the gate is moving before you finish the turn in

20
Years of compatibility

Works with Ditec receivers going back two decades, including the old ZEN handsets

01

One remote in a two-car house is a daily nuisance

Everybody starts with the handsets that came in the box, and within a fortnight the household has worked out that there are not enough of them. The remote lives in whichever car went out last. Somebody swaps it across in the driveway. Somebody drives off with both. The teenager who has just got their licence has none, so they text you to open the gate. It is a small thing that happens every day, and it is fixed for the price of a decent bottle of wine. Get one for each car and one that stays inside by the door for the times someone is on foot.

02

If your old Ditec remote has died, this is the one

This is the current model, and it replaced the ZEN range without changing anything about how it works. It is built to be backward compatible with every Ditec remote released in Australia in the last twenty years — so if you have a ZEN2, ZEN4, GOL4, LP2 or LP4 that has been lost, dropped once too often or has finally given up, you do not need a new receiver and you do not need an installer to rip out a working control board. You need this. It also covers a long list of Prastel handsets, including the Slim, MT, TC, TRQ and MPST ranges. That kind of backward compatibility is not an accident; it is what happens when a manufacturer expects its gear to still be on the gate in fifteen years.

03

Rolling code, because a gate is a lock

Cheap remotes send the same code every time you press them, which means the code can be captured from the kerb and played back later. This one is rolling code: the signal changes on every press, drawn from more than four billion combinations, so what was heard once is no use again. It matters more than people realise. Your gate is the only thing between the street and your cars, your tools and your kids on their bikes, and a remote is a key. It is worth buying the real one rather than an unbranded clone off a marketplace listing, and it is worth having a spare so that a lost handset is an inconvenience rather than a security problem.

04

Small enough that it actually gets carried

Fifty-six millimetres long, twelve thick, twenty-one grams. It sits on a keyring without being the thing you notice on the keyring, which is the whole point — a remote left in a drawer is not a remote. The coin cell inside lasts around two years of ordinary use and costs a couple of dollars to change at the supermarket. And there is a second button doing nothing until you give it a job: a second gate, the garage door, or the pedestrian opening so you can slip through on foot without swinging the whole driveway open to the street.

— Before you order —

This is a Ditec handset for a Ditec system — if your gate is running someone else's motor, check the brand on the control box first, though it does also cover a long list of Prastel remotes. To add it you need brief access to the control box to put the receiver into learn mode, or an existing working remote to copy the code across. The CR2032 battery is included and it arrives ready to pair. Range is quoted as 100 m in free field, which is exactly what it sounds like — a long driveway with a masonry wall or a steel gate in the way will read shorter, and an external aerial fixes that if you need it to.

Paired in about a minute, no tools needed

There are two ways to add it and both are quick. If you have a remote that already works, the easiest path is to copy the code straight across from the old handset to the new one, standing at the gate, with nothing to open and nothing to wire. Otherwise you open the control box, put the receiver into its learn mode from the display, press the button on the new remote once so the receiver stores it, and come back out of the menu. That is the whole job. Ditec receivers hold well over a hundred remotes, so there is no reason to be sparing with how many you add over the years, and any one of them can be deleted again on its own if a handset is ever lost. Keep the box the remote came in — the code label inside is worth having if you ever want to clone another one.
