The first impression you actually control

You can't change the street, the neighbours, or the shape of the block. The entrance is the one thing that's entirely yours to decide — and it's the first thing anyone reads about your home. The Newport reads well: open and generous across the top so the property still breathes, private through the lower half, and weighted in real Australian steel so it swings shut with a sound you'll come to like. Get the entrance right and everything behind it looks better.

The whole front of the property becomes yours

A driveway is the widest opening in the boundary, and usually the one that gives everything away — the cars, the kids, the front yard, the whole of the house behind it. The Newport closes that off properly. Beneath the open top, the lower half runs 50 × 10 uprights set just 20mm apart: the eye doesn't drift through, so the front of the property is genuinely private while air and light still move. Across the top, the open band keeps the sky in the picture so it never reads as a barricade. The front of the property stops being on display and starts being part of the home.

You can feel the difference before you see it

The Newport is built from heavier sections than a gate this size needs — 75 × 75 RHS gate sides, 75 × 50 RHS top, mid and bottom rails, welded from premium galvanised Australian steel. You notice it the first time you push a leaf: no flex, no rattle, no hollow note. It moves as one piece and closes with intent. On a double that extra steel earns its keep twice over, because a wide leaf is where lightweight gates give up first — they wind slowly out of square until the centre gap goes crooked and the two sides stop meeting. The Newport holds its line. It's the reason a good gate still shuts properly in twenty years, and a cheap one doesn't last five.

Heavy-duty ball bearing hinges, included

Hardware is where an expensive-looking gate gives itself away, usually inside the first year — and on a pair of leaves this size, there is nowhere for a weak hinge to hide. So every Newport double is supplied with heavy-duty ball bearing hinges, a pair on each leaf, and a genuine step up from the standard hinge. Sealed 180° bearings carry the load instead of grinding against it, rated well beyond the weight of the gates, so they swing smooth and effortless and never drop or drag. Each hinge is fully adjustable on a threaded stem, so the installer can dial both leaves square on their posts and set the centre gap true — then leave it. On a double gate that alignment is everything: two leaves that meet clean, every time. It matters more again if you automate, because an opener only ever performs as well as the hinges underneath it. Zinc plated for the weather. Included in the price, not an upsell.
